In the Mood of Loss

งานชุดนี้ถูกถ่ายสองครั้งในปี 2017 และอีกครั้งปี 2018 เหมือนผมได้เฝ้าดูชีวิตของคนคู่หนึ่งที่ได้พบรักและสูญเสียคนที่รักไป งานจบลงไปเท่านี้และไม่ได้เผยแพร่ที่ใดอีก ทั้งสองภาพแยกจากกันด้วยเวลาและระยะทางในฮาร์ดไดร์ฟ เมื่อโควิด-19 ระบาดขึ้น ภาพความสูญเสียจากหลาย ๆ ครอบครัว หลายคู่รักถูกนำเสนอผ่านสื่อต่าง ๆ ทำให้ผมจำได้ว่าเคยถ่ายสองภาพนี้จึงนำกลับมาสำรวจใหม่และนำเสนออีกภาพหนึ่งที่ทั้งสองกลับมาเจอกันในมิติที่สูงขึ้น อาจเป็นจักรวาลคู่ขนานหรือมิติลี้ลับทางวิญญาณแล้วแต่จะจินตนาการ แต่หลักใหญ่ใจความคือ “พบกัน-จากกัน” เป็นฉากของชีวิตที่ทุกคนต้องเจอ เราจะเก็บเรื่องราวเหล่านี้ไว้อย่างไร ตรงไหนบนพื้นที่เวลาของพวกเรา

I photographed In the Mood of Love in two stages, first in 2017 and again in 2018, giving me the sense that I was observing the lives of a couple who found love and then experienced loss. The project ended there and was never published elsewhere, leaving the two images separated by time and distance on a hard drive. When the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, frequent media portrayals of loss among countless families and couples reminded me of these photographs, prompting me to re-examine them. I then decided to present another image where the two individuals reunite in a higher dimension, whether imagined as a parallel universe or a metaphysical plane. Ultimately, the central theme is that meeting and parting are inevitable stages of life everyone must face, raising the question of how and where we will preserve these stories within our own space of time.
