This work is an experimental conceptual photography using the technique of film scanning to create new ways and dimensions of image. Actually this technique is called Scanography which has been used for a long time since artists started using scanners. I have been a street photographer who wasn’t familiar with this technique before. So I was very impressed when I saw these kinds of works and thought that it would be great if this would be applied to my work.
“Separation” depicts a lack of my family’s picture because my father and mother have separated without divorce since my teenage years. Also my brother was brought to Ayutthaya to live with his mother's family since childhood. So we don’t have much normal family’s time together, mostly they spend life with their own families. Obviously it made us like strangers to each other, these kinds of stories are behind the “Separation” series. This work has been developed by making them separated, distorted, and like overlapping dimensions of past - present - future which reminds me, including the audiences, about what is happening in our families nowadays.
งานชุดนี้เป็นงานภาพถ่ายเชิงทดลองที่ใช้เทคนิคทางการสแกนฟิล์มเข้ามาใช้ในการสร้างมิติภาพใหม่ๆให้เกิดขึ้น อันที่จริงเทคนิคนี้ที่เรียกว่า Scanography มีมานานนับตั้งแต่ศิลปินรู้จักการใช้สแกนเนอร์ ผมเองเป็นคนถ่ายภาพแนวข้างถนน (street photography) มาก่อนจึงไม่ค่อยคุ้นกับวิธีนี้นัก เมื่อได้เห็นช่างภาพต่างชาติและชาวไทยใช้วิธีนี้เลยรู้สึกประทับใจ คิดว่าหากเอามาใช้กับงานส่วนตัวก็จะดีไม่น้อย
Separation เล่าถึงเรื่องครอบครัวของผมที่ไม่ค่อยมีรูปถ่ายครอบครัวรวมหมู่คณะมากเหมือนครอบครัวอื่นๆ เนื่องจากพ่อและแม่ไม่ได้อยู่ด้วยกันตั้งแต่ผมตอนวัยรุ่นแต่ก็ไม่ได้หย่าร้างกัน รวมทั้งพี่ชายก็ไปอยู่กับครอบครัวฝ่ายแม่ที่อยุธยาตั้งแต่เล็กๆ ทำให้ไม่ได้ทำกิจกรรมร่วมกัน และไม่สนิทสนมเท่าที่ควร ราวกับป็นครอบครัวที่แยกออกจากกันกลายๆ ต่างคนต่างใช้ชีวิต จะมาพบเจอกันเป็นครั้งคราว ด้วยเรื่องราวทำนองนี้จึงเป็นที่มาของคำว่า Separation และการใช้เทคนิคสแกนให้ภาพแตกแยก บิดเบี้ยว ราวกับเกิดมิติเวลาหลากหลายซ้อนทับ อดีต ปัจจุบัน อนาคต ให้หวนระลึกถึงสิ่งที่เคยเกิดขึ้น ความสุข ความเศร้า สิ่งที่ผ่านมา ทำให้ผมและหมายรวมถึงผู้ชมงานได้ครุ่นคิดถึงความเป็นไปของครอบครัวตนเองที่กำลังดำเนินไปในสังคมปัจจุบัน
